As nicotine policy debates grow more contentious, GFN 2025 reminds us of what’s at stake: real lives, real families, and real communities. At its heart, GFN is a forum not only for science and policy, but for belonging, support, and shared purpose.

The importance of an individual consumer’s reality was established from the very start of the conference through Dr Mark Tyndall’s keynote speech. He highlighted the importance of offering individual consumers effective and practical alternatives, not only with research but also with a variety of powerful, personal stories. Focus on the people was also seen through specific panels on as well as constant mentions of THR in LMICs, where 80% of smokers around the world reside.

THR as a Human-Centered Solution

The science of harm reduction is compelling. But it is the people, the former smokers who found a path to health, the advocates fighting stigma, the researchers striving for evidence-based recognition—who truly define its power.

GFN 2025 harm reduction

GFN 2025 amplifies these voices. It celebrates the personal victories behind the data, and the global community built on trust, respect, and the shared goal of reducing smoking-related death and disease.

A Global Network in Action

From South Africa to the Philippines, from Eastern Europe to the Americas, GFN unites diverse regions and experiences under one banner: pragmatic compassion. It is where language barriers fall and solidarity emerges. Here, consumer testimonies sit alongside laboratory results, and policy panels echo with stories of change.

In 2025, GFN renews its call for health equity through inclusion. By placing people at the center of THR, the forum continues to drive a global movement that is as transformative as it is unifying.

GFN is not just a venue. It is a lifeline, a mirror, and a home for those who believe that better outcomes are not only possible—they are essential.
