AHRA sat down with Asanda Gcoyi, CEO of the Vapour Product Association of South Africa (VPASA) to talk about the development of tobacco harm reduction regulations in South Africa, as well as the highly effective Youth Access Prevention Campaign launched by VPASA last year.

Asanda: “The national treasury believes excise is the way to go. There is a growing number of people using these products – especially youth. So what they want to do is to restrict the number of people who use these products. But when you look at what other countries have done, it makes the prices of some of these e-liquids more, by 138%, so obviously you know what that could lead to…”
