The EU must adopt a more humane and science-driven approach to tackling smoking, according to a new opinion piece in EU Reporter.

In “A pragmatic path to ending smoking in Europe”, the author argues that smokers deserve access to safer alternatives, not stigmatisation or bans. Consumer groups are increasingly vocal about the right to choose lower-risk products, and the article underscores how harm reduction tools can empower individuals to quit smoking for good. With the EU reviewing its tobacco legislation, now is the time for advocates to demand policies that prioritise lives over ideology.
